Trauma-Informed Yoga 101 at Maine YogaFest (Donation Workshop)
Friday, June 28, 5:00 - 6:30 p.m.
East End Community School, Portland
SCY teacher Susannah Sanfilippo will be offering a donation workshop to kick off this year’s Maine YogaFest. What is exactly is “trauma” and what makes a yoga class, “trauma-informed”? This practical session will introduce you to the key aspects of what a trauma-informed yoga class is: what is taught and why.
You can expect to learn the basic neuroscience of trauma and how it affects the entire mind-body system. We will move through a trauma-informed, choice-based and invitational-oriented yoga practice that is applicable to anyone who has experienced trauma and/or is interested in working sincerely and effectively with people who have experienced trauma.
We are grateful to once again partner with MYF as the charitable partner for this year’s festival, happening Friday, June 28 through Sunday, June 30. $5 from every ticket sold will support our work. Visit us in the vendor village, we’ll be there all weekend!

We are pleased to continue to offer "Yoga for Sustainable Activism," an opportunity for organizers, activists, and anyone concerned with social justice issues to practice self care thanks to a generous supporter. This class is FREE and open to all.
Each session will offer an accessible physical practice followed by an opportunity for conversation about self-care and social justice activism. These sessions will be free and open as drop-in experiences, but we do hope to build a sense of deeper community with each other. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.
